Objective:  revise and extend knowledge of reported speech, questions and commands.

A director is talking to Jamal and Fahad about producing a short play. Write what he said.

1 ‘You have to be very patient.’
He said you had to be very patient.

2 ‘Have you had any previous experience?’
He asked them if they’d had any previous experience

3 ‘Don’t make the actors work without any food!’
He told them not to make the actors work without any food

4 ‘Rehearse a lot so that the actors can learn their lines.’

5 ‘Do you have a friend with some useful props?’
He asked them if they had a friend with any useful props.

3 Change these examples into reported speech.
1 Director to actors: ‘Have a break for ten minutes.’

3 Hana to her mother: ‘Nada didn’t come to the rehearsal.’
4 Teacher to class: ‘Put your hands up when you have finished.’
5 Hussein: ‘I’m feeling quite creative about the project.’

3- Hana told her mother that Nada hadn’t come to the rehearsal. 4- The teacher asked the class to put their hands up when they had finished.

Objective:   listen to a dialogue and report the main points of what is being said.

5 Listen to Fahad and Jamal talking about their play and answer the questions. Then listen again and check your answers.

1 Jamal says that Mohammed has pulled out’ of the play. What do you think that means?
